You do not need to go far to find the good water. The boat leaves from the beach directly in front of us, and within half an hour you are somewhere with very few other people in it.

We arrange the boat, the captain and the lunch. You decide how long to stay out.

How the day runs

You leave in the morning. The exact time depends on the tides, so the captain confirms it with you the day before rather than guessing a week out.

It is about thirty minutes across to Pulau Liukang. You snorkel, then come ashore for lunch — grilled fish, cooked locally, eaten on the beach. Afterwards you go back in the water, or you do not. Nobody is counting the hours for you.

The two places you can go

Pulau Liukang

Thirty minutes out. Good snorkelling and a wide, quiet beach to have lunch on. This is the standard trip and the one most guests take.

Pulau Kambing

If the snorkelling matters more to you than the beach, this is the better water: more coral, and noticeably more fish. It is about fifty minutes out rather than thirty, so it makes for a longer day. Ask us for the price of this trip.

Which boat

Two options, and the difference is speed and cost.

  • A local fishing boat. Slower and open, and it takes eight to ten people comfortably — which is why most families and groups take one.
  • A speedboat. Gets you there and back faster, and leaves more of the day for the water.

Tell us how many of you there are and what kind of day you want, and we will tell you which one makes sense.

What is included, and what is not

This is the part worth reading before you book, because the boat price is not the whole cost of the day:

  • Snorkelling equipment is available here, and it is charged rather than included.
  • Lunch is charged per person.
  • Ask us for the current rates when you book — we would rather tell you the real number than have you find out on the beach.

Sun cream and a shirt for the boat are worth bringing either way.

Children and first-timers

The water at the snorkelling site is not choppy, and anyone who would rather not snorkel can swim or stay on the boat.

The beach at Pulau Liukang is an easy place to rest between sessions, which is why the trip works for families rather than only for confident swimmers.

If you would rather dive

Diving in Bira is run by diving.de, who operate from Akasha Beach Club — run by the same family as Bara Cabana. We are an official partner. Tell us your dates and what you are after, and we will pass it to their team, who come back to you directly.

For the boat itself, just message us. A day before is usually enough, but earlier is easier if there are several of you.
